Siwandu camp
Sheltered in a grove of palms on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, part of the watery byways of the Rufiji River system, Siwandu is perfectly situated to fully experience the breathtaking landscape and abundant wildlife of Selous Game Reserve.
The Reserve is the largest in Africa, spanning 55,000km² and is four times larger than the Serengeti. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Selous’ riverine wilderness and diverse habitat creates the perfect environment for a wealth of animals of all shapes and sizes as well as support an extraordinary array of different vegetation types. Due to the local topography around Siwandu, our location is considered the undisputed prime position for superlative game viewing.
Tandala Tented Camp
There are eleven spacious, elevated, luxury tents offering a variety of twin or double bed arrangements. Extra beds are available for children or to accommodate a third person. All lighting is provided by 24 hr solar and each tent stands at least eight meters away from the next ensuring absolute seclusion and privacy. The en-suite bathroom at the back of each tent is enclosed in thatch and rockwork over viewing the bush. Hot showers are provided by solar. At the front of each room is a sizable verandah with comfortable seating perfect for relaxing in private to watch out for game along the Mdweka sand river.
Gombe Forest Lodge
Gombe Forest Lodge is located in Gombe Stream national park on Lake Tanganyika in the extreme west of Tanzania. This mid-range camp is the only sensible place to stay in the park.
Although Gombe Stream does have slightly lighter restrictions on the amount of time that visitors can spend with the chimps, the reserve is generally considered to be a far less desirable location than Mahale Mountains further down the lake.
The fact that it is also accessed by boat from Kigoma makes it far less convenient for the majority of our guests, who are able to fly directly between Arusha and Mahale.
Katavi Wilderness Camp
Katavi enjoys a 6 month dry period from June through to end October. As the park dries out the animals are concentrated into smaller areas contributing to the spectacularly large herds. From November to February the park turns green and lush, still with excellent viewing and better than ever bird populations.
The camp is open from the 1st June through to the end of February. The main reason for closing at this time is that the soil is black cotton which is very challenging when wet.
